New Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Available for Analysis

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) provides free, ready access to the most current and comprehensive national data on substance abuse and mental health.


SAMHDA Introducing New Data Series; TEDS Discharge Data Publicly Available for First Time

2006 Treatment Episode Data Set–Discharges (TEDS–D) | A data set of individual discharges from substance abuse treatment. View report.

Annual Updates for 4 Popular Data Series Available

2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) | The source for national statistics on the prevalence, incidence, and correlates of alcohol and drug use. View report of the study results.

2007 National Survey on Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) | A survey of all known substance abuse treatment facilities, both public and private. View annual report of N-SSATS findings.

2007 Treatment Episode Data Set–Admissions (TEDS–A) | A data set of individual admissions to substance abuse treatment. View highlights report.

2007 Monitoring the Future (MTF) | A survey quantifying the direction and rate of change occurring over time regarding relationships and trends among youth in school. View report of key findings.  PDF (971 KB)


All SAMHDA data and services are free of charge and may be downloaded from the SAMHDA Web site. Most studies are available for use with SAMHDA's online data analysis system. Annual reports for the data series are provided by the Office of Applied Studies and Monitoring the Future.
