How To Get Into Top Law Schools

How To Get Into Top Law Schools

Today's Tip: Never, ever use your personal statement or mandatory essay to attempt to explain away poor grades, poor work history or a poor LSAT score. Your personal statements and essays should be used only to highlight the positive aspects of your application and not to draw attention to any potential weaknesses. If you absolutely feel like you have to explain why you earned a mediocre undergraduate GPA or why your LSAT score was less than 155, you should use an addendum to your application

Nearly every law school in the country will accept a brief addendum added to your application that can be used to tell the admissions department anything you fee they should know about your application, including any of the negatives discussed above. In 1,000 words or less explain your issue, why it happened and offer any possible proof you might have (like a relative died just before the LSAT or you were hosptialized, etc). Simply attach the addendum directly to your application and you are finished!
