Budget Resolution Would Lower Taxes, Invigorate Economy, Put Nation on Sound Fiscal Course

Dear Friend,

Yesterday, the United States Senate began debate on the Budget Resolution for Fiscal Year 2009. This budget, which was adopted by the Senate Budget Committee last week, puts America's working families first by lowering taxes and making health care, college tuition, and energy more affordable. It supports our troops, cares for our veterans, and protects the homeland. It also breathes life into a stagnant economy through job-creating efforts like rebuilding the nation's infrastructure, and incentives for American businesses.

And this budget is fiscally responsible. It holds the line on spending. It balances the budget by 2012 and begins to make the changes that are needed to put our nation back on a sound fiscal course.

You can watch a press conference on the importance of this budget by clicking here. You can read my floor speech opening debate on the budget by clicking here and look at the charts I used by clicking here.

I will continue to update you as debate on the budget proceeds this week. I encourage you to find out more about how I am working for North Dakota by visiting my Website at http://www.conrad.senate.gov/.

Sincerely,

KENT CONRAD United States Senate
