LEARN HOW TO USE THE ALP SITE

The Team has added this great new section to the Newsletter!! Here we have articles that will give some great tips & advice on how to use the ALP site to your full advantage! There are many new people that do not know what all ALP has to offer, and/or how to use the many different tools. So, read this section and you might just learn something you didn't know before!

Add An Ad

We've been working our way through the tab bars on your profile and Adlandpro. Whether you are a free member or a paying member you want to maximize the potential for Adlandpro to build your business.

Letting people know what you do, and what your opportunity is, is critical to your success. So are you using the AD tab effectively? Have you peeked to see what's behind the tab? Have you posted an ad? If you have posted an ad have you come back to update it recently?

The Ad tab is simple to use. You open the tab click on "New Offer" and type in or copy and paste your ad, check that it looks right and that your links are live, then hit post. There you have it. Your new ad!

Now I have to admit that I haven't used this feature to the fullest, so I thought I would make a couple of suggestions on how to use your posted AD.

The first thing to note is your ad has a hyperlink. Just click on your ad and look at the link that comes up in your browser bar.

Here is what the link will look like: http://community.adlandpro.com/go/ngrimshawe/iHaveWant.aspx?PostID=1128350

I'm not bashful; it's a link to one of my ads.

With this link you can send a message to your friends, asking them to take a look at your offer. You could post it online or send the link to your list.

You can even ask people to comment on your ad, or ask questions to create a forum around your ad. This creates more interest.

Another more subtle way to get people to your ad is to drive them to your profile by suggesting prospects learn more about you by viewing your profile. If you have taken the time to set up your profile fully, then you are offering a really good idea of who you are to people who you want to network with.

When you send these links also include your AdlandPro email address to encourage people to contact you directly as well. Don't have one yet! I'll go over that next time out.

Do you have any unique ways or ideas on how to use the Ad Tab? Let me know. I am interested in your feedback, comments and suggestions. You can reach me at grimshawe@adlandpro.com

OCTOBER HOLIDAYS & CELEBRATIONS

We have a very diverse Community here at AdlandPro, and I thought it would be nice to have a section on Holidays being celebrated around the world. I will list and explain the Holidays that will be celebrated during the month, along with the date the Holiday is celebrated. This should be lots of fun, and a great learning experience for everyone.

Yom Kippur - October 9th

Yom Kippur is probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. Many Jews who do not observe any other Jewish custom will refrain from work, fast and/or attend synagogue services on this day. Yom Kippur occurs on the 10th day of Tishri.

The name "Yom Kippur" means "Day of Atonement," and that pretty much explains what the holiday is. It is a day set aside to "afflict the soul," to atone for the sins of the past year. On Yom Kippur, the judgment entered in these books is sealed. This day is, essentially, your last appeal, your last chance to change the judgment, to demonstrate your repentance and make amends.

Columbus Day - Observed October 13th 2008

Many countries in the New World and elsewhere celebrate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas, which occurred on October 12, 1492

In 1934, at the behest of the Knights of Columbus (a Catholic fraternal service organization named for the voyager), Congress and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt set aside Columbus Day, October 12, as a Federal holiday.

World Food Day - October 16th

Celebrated annually on the 16 October, World Food Day draws attention to the international effort needed to defeat hunger. The aim of World Food Day is to heighten public awareness of the world food problem and strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. The Day marks the date of the founding of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945.

Diwali - October 28, 2008

Ramayana is one of the two most important epics of the Hindu religion. In this epic, Lord Rama, king of Ayodhya, returns to his kingdom with his wife and brother Lakshman, after his exile of 14 years, and defeats the demon king Ravana. The people of Ayodhya went ecstatic with the joy of His returning, and to welcome their king, lights up earthen diyas (oil lamps) in every home of Ayodhya, thus lighting up the whole kingdom. This took place on the night of the new moon of Ashwin, and the tradition is carried out even today.

Though the four-day long festival centers round the new moon night, "The Night of Lamps", each of the four days have an interesting story to tell of its own. The 2nd day, known as "Narakachaturdashi Day" is dedicated to lights and prayers heralding a future full of joy and laughter. The 3rd day, known as "Day of Amavashya", it is believed that those who worship Goddess Lakshmi on this day would be bestowed with all the riches.

The day following the Amavasya is "Kartik Shuddh Padwa" and it is only on this day that King Bali would come out of Pathal Loka and rule Bhulok as per the boon given by Lord Vishnu. Hence, it is also known as "Bali Padyami". And, to this day, people celebrate Krishna's feat during the Deepavali festival by organising a special puja.

Halloween - October 31st

The term Halloween is shortened from "All Hallows' Eve", and is also known as "All Saints Day". Halloween began as an ancient Celtic, and later as a Roman, harvest festival. When the Irish immigrated to the United States in the 1800's they brought with them a tradition of lighting candles in turnips to keep spirits away. Finding that turnips were in short supply in America they began carving pumpkins, and thus the Jack 'O Lantern was born.

The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

For quite a few years now many people have decided not to celebrate Halloween because of the it being a day surrounding evil and the devil. These people, myself included, feel that celebrating this day is the same as worshipping Satan, and we do not worship the devil.

MS JILL BACHMAN is our FORUM OWNER in the spotlight for this edition of the Community Newsletter.

Jill Bachman made history recently when her forum surpassed the 1000 page mark. You don't reach such a milestone which out showing a huge ability to manage all the dynamics that spills out of her forum on a whole host of issues.

If you haven't been to "Journey to the Mountain of Love" I suggest you do so through this link. My suggestion is to go to the first page and read all the introduction material so you can get a grasp of the amazing material Jill is working with, then got to the last page of the forum and read backward to get a feel for what is being discussed at the moment. Then jump in and join the fun.

I had the opportunity to interview Jill and here is what she had to say to me;

Q. Can you tell us a little about the genesis of "Journey to the Mountain of Love" and what you hoped to do with the forum?

A. The Journey forum was born from my true fascination with Mt. Shasta, CA. This mountain is known as one of the most sacred places on earth, and from the very first time I saw it, it just made me shiver. I knew it was very special, and I knew the mountain had a message for humanity.

My fascination led me to read everything I could get my hands on, historically and particularly about the many legends and lore. This led me to realizing in my heart that there was indeed a loving energy emanating from the mountain, and as the legends and lore would later reveal, that is due to the ancient Lemurian city of Telos deep within the mountain. Yes, it took me a long time to believe that this could even be possible (and I never spoke it to anyone including my family), but when I did....the rest was history.

As we began evolving closer to the 2012 "Shift of the Ages" (The Golden Age of Aquarius) according to the Bible and the Mayan calendar, an abundance of information all of a sudden started coming from everywhere. What I thought was a myth 2 - 5 years ago, has now not only become possible....but a total reality.

Also, in the early 1990's, I was inspired to write a mission statement. It appeared short and simple at first: "Unite the Hearts of the World through Wisdom and Knowledge." When this message came to me, I had no idea how I would accomplish this deed. Then, at the end of 2006, I just started creating the website "The Mountain of Love - A Spiritual Journey" with all the wonderful stories and facts I had collected. By then, I was so excited I just wanted to share the web site, so the forum was born in January 2007.

Q. When you created the forum what were your expectations?

That is a really good question, because all I knew is that I wanted to share information that would help people understand the planetary transformations going into 2012. Well, first of all I can tell you I was very nervous because I knew the majority of Adlanders may not be ready for such outlandish information. So you might say that I just KNEW I was supposed to share this information and I was hoping beyond hope that I could touch lots of people.

Q. As with any creation they have a habit of changing from the original idea into something else all together. When did you first suspect that your forum was going to take on a life of its own?

The forum never changed from the original idea, but the test was to convey the "idea." I was really hoping it would take on a life as its own, because I could see a "journey" gaining momentum through the next 5 years as new information continued to unfold. It started out a little slow, but that was good because it took people a while to read and digest the material on the web site. Once they came back to the forum a 2nd time, I really got excited. That is when we really begin to get into exchanges of information, and everyone brought their own stories/ideas/knowledge to share. The success of the forum is due to ALL its many participants, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart. Without them, the forum would not be possible.

Q. Recently your forum hit a milestone of over 1,000 pages, a feat I do not think any other Adlander has accomplished. What would you say contributes to the longevity of your forum? What accounts for its popularity?

Longevity is due to the ongoing nature of the topic. Another really important factor is that we made it clear in the very beginning that we would "respect each other's truths" because it is easy to bring both religion and politics into light of many discussions. I believe its popularity is due to the fact that people are hungry for knowledge. Everyone knows that the date 2012 is significant, and they also know in their hearts that "something" is changing on earth. For those who are open and ready to join the journey, the forum almost becomes addictive. We are writing a chapter in life that has never before been written, and everyday there is new information. lol

Q. In many forums, new threads are created to handle each subject, with "Journey to the Mountain of Love, you did not follow that path. What was your reasoning for keeping everything in one basic thread?

That is funny, because I stayed awake nights trying to envision how to set up separate threads and keep some orderly fashion to some topics. So much for that idea! The subject matter is so vast (which I soon learned), and it all ties together, so even early on...this became an issue. Finally, I just decided that it had to evolve according to whatever subjects people wanted to share from their hearts that day. It was not unusual to see posts about NASA, super novas, earthquakes, ancient history, extraterrestrials, government reform and spiritual messages all back to back.

We are proud to say the "organization" of the forum is out of control, but that ALL the subjects meld nicely into the purpose of the journey. lol

Q. For Adland members just about to embark on the adventure of hosting their own forum, do you have any advice, words of wisdom, or suggestions?

Yes, I do. The key to starting a forum is to be comfortable with your subject matter and pick something that brings "value" to people's lives. Strive to build relationships with like-minded people. Make friends, not sales. Choose something that you have a passion about. It could be hiking, gardening, knitting, cooking, animals, children, education, inspiration, etc. etc. Just make it a reflection of who you are, and you will begin making friends galore.

Entertaining Idiots

I once wrote a book called "How to Keep an Idiot Entertained for Hours". It went like this: To keep an idiot entertained for hours, read the next sentence. To keep an idiot entertained for hours, read the previous sentence." It didn't sell very well.

I thought with the short attention span of people these days it may have been too long, so I rewrote it. The 2nd edition went: "To keep an idiot busy for hours, re-read this sentence."

It's doing pretty good. I have a deal for the sequel. The 3rd edition is going to go: "Re-read this line."

Trouble is, I'm not as sharp as I used to be, so it's become my favorite book to curl up with on a rainy day. It absorbs me for hours.

THE 29th ART EXHIBITION

I am so happy to introduce the 3 lovely ladies that bring us this wonderful forum! We have ROSE ENDERUD, JENNY SJ, and VENERINA CONTI, and they work really hard to bring us this forum every 3 weeks.

It is a real pleasure to be able to write the article for the "Art Corner" because I love artwork and the members here are so talented! CATHERINE WALKER is the featured artist for this edition of the Newsletter.

Cathy is another one of our veteran members here at AdlandPro, being here since July 2006. Cathy is one of our friends that lives in the "Land Down Under", and like many other Aussie's here, she is well liked by the Community.

Cathy loves to paint! She will paint on anything she can find, such as, canvas, wood, furniture, ceramics...just anywhere that will hold paint, says Cathy! lol Cathy also does artwork with charcoal and pen and ink, but acrylic painting is her favorite medium.

Cathy has had her work shown at a few exhibitions in Melbourne and Sidney, Australia, and she had one solo exhibition at a public gallery in Victoria. Cathy says the exhibition in Victoria did not bring her monetary gain, but it definitely brought her emotional gain.

Please visit Cathy's artshow to learn even more about this lovely lady and to see more of her artwork. You may be interested in looking at Cathy's website which shows alot more of her talent, click HERE to visit.

Please INVITE Cathy to be your friend if you are not friends with her already. Here are some examples of Cathy's awesome talent;

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the Art Exhibition as much as I did.
