If you're reading this while enjoying your summer vacation, then I applaud you for taking some time off. If you're reading this at your desk, I'm worried about you. You need to get out and grab some vacation fun time before the holiday marketing rush starts and make no mistake, it'll be here before you can say Labor Day.

Everything is moving very quickly, but taking time off enables you to gain a fresh perspective and rejuvenate your mind and body. I'm taking my own advice in August and heading to see the family back East.

Meanwhile, I'm plugging away putting the final touches on Revenue, Issue 23. You'll have it in mid-August - just in time for reading at the beach.

Mentoring at Affiliate Summit
I like to use events as milestones to get things done. Lots of times I'll just pick a show or conference and decided that I must have X,Y, and Z all finished before, say, Affiliate Summit in Boston. When I initially make the plan, the event always seems so far off - giving me plenty of time to plow through the long list of must-do's. But along the way other things crop up, I get sidetracked, or I find some other excuse to delay doing what needs to be done.

Blast From the Past

Recent discussions about the future of search and a little prep work for the SMX show in San Francisco next week make it a good time to talk about alternatives to search. Back in our November/December 2007 edition, Revenue's cover feature focused on alternative methods to what is considered traditional search. Back then, some of these were very novel ideas. Now many are becoming commonplace.
