Take it to the next level

The Democratic Party

Dear Phillip,

Our victories in 2006 were no accident.

By building the necessary infrastructure to fight in all 50 states, we were able to compete in races across the country.

To maintain an operation in all 50 states, we needed to know that we had a dependable foundation of support. The Democracy Bond program became the cornerstone of this 50-state strategy.

With a monthly contribution to the Democratic Party, thousands of small-dollar donors helped to provide a steady stream of funding to make our Party competitive in places Republicans haven't worried about for decades -- places like Kansas, Utah, and Indiana. The Democracy Bonds community let us plan without wondering if we were going to have the resources to compete.

But today, I'm asking you not only to make a commitment to help build a permanent infrastructure to keep our new Democratic majority and to take back the White House in 2008, but to bring someone into the process with you.

Right now, you can become part of the Democracy Bonds community by pledging to make a small monthly contribution if another Democrat will join you. We'll take your pledge and match you with a grassroots donor who may need just a little more incentive, helping you both double your impact.

It's an opportunity to support -- and grow -- a Democratic Party already working for Election Day 2008:

This is about much more than the money -- it's about building the relationships that empower ordinary people to have a real voice in the Democratic Party. Once someone accepts your pledge, you'll be able to exchange notes and start a conversation about the future of our party. You can't put a price on those relationships.

And there's quite a lot to talk about these days. The 2006 election may be over, but the race for the White House is already heating up. We've got to keep the pressure on the GOP during primary season and build the nationwide infrastructure the next Democratic President will need to hit the ground running.

Support and strengthen our Party today. Pledge to get a Democracy Bond if another Democrat will join you:

If you're still on the fence, don't take it from me - listen to your fellow Democrats:

If you're like me, you can't give large amounts of money, but if we all give just a little think of the difference we can make! We have a chance to finally take back control and make some real changes to the bad direction the administration is taking us. Please help!

I don't have a whole lot of money - and you might not either. But think about how much money we'll save in the long run - when we stop giving breaks to big companies, when we don't have to spend as much on health care, and when we reduce our dependence on foreign oil. A little bit of money now could add up to a lot saved later.

Our family can't afford to donate much right now, but we know that every dollar matters. We have an eight-year-old son and we worry about his future...the terrible war we're involved in that may go on for the next decade or longer unless we elect better leaders, the environment, the growing deficit. Please join us in helping the Democratic party make a difference in our country. My husband and I would like to be proud to be Americans again.

Alison H. - Bend, Oregon

Make your pledge today so that you and another Democrat can join them:

Our victories in 2006 weren't an accident, but you already knew that. And you know what it will take to repeat that success in 2007, 2008 and beyond. Get your Democracy Bond today.

Sincerely,

Gov. Howard Dean, MD
