Dear Aunt Fern,
I just wanted to wish you a happy holiday and thank you for the fruitcake you sent last year -- it was delicious and my friends here at Democratic Headquarters and I enjoyed it.
As the holidays grow closer, Mom has been calling me lately saying things like, "you don't call, you don't write... when are you coming home for the holidays... are you eating?"
So, please tell Mom -- I am definitely eating. But, this year the fruitcake is not necessary. Now, I am not saying I don't appreciate the thought but I wanted to tell you that maybe this year you could give me something I have been wishing for a lot lately -- a Democrat in the White House and a strong Democratic Majority.
It's not that I don't love your fruitcakes, I do, but all of us working at Democratic Headquarters agree that one important thing we can do this holiday season is to be here working day and night to make sure we all have the resources we need to finally put an end to the Republican Obstructionist Congress and the Bush Era. The incredible support we get from Democrats all across the country inspires us to keep at it every day.
So, please Aunt Fern, this year, let's skip the fruitcake and give the gift of a Democratic House. It's not that any of us don't like fruitcake -- we just like Democrats better.
Instead of fruitcake, please give the gift of a New Direction for America. If you give before midnight on December 31st, your gift will be TRIPLED by House Democrats.I wish I could send a thank you note like this to every Democrat that has helped us this year -- you wouldn't believe the support we have gotten. I just want to thank them and wish them all a happy holiday.
