| Dear Phillip, Set your VCR or TiVo: tonight is the first Republican presidential debate. If I know anything about the GOP presidential candidates -- and, as the Research Director here at the DNC, I've learned more about these folks than anyone would want to -- this promises to be an entertaining event. In fact, I've flown out to the Ronald Reagan Library in California just to watch the spectacle unfold live. But I'm not just here to see a good show. I'm also passing out "The Real Republicans," our latest research document on the 2008 Republican presidential hopefuls. This 40-page document proves just how out of step the Republican presidential candidates really are. Back in March, I told you about our program to hold the GOP accountable for everything they say on the 2008 campaign trail. That's why I'm at the GOP debate, that's why I'm passing out this research, and that's why I'm proud to introduce our new online research center, devoted to their campaigns. You can take a look and download the report here: http://www.democrats.org/republicans
This joint effort by the DNC research, communications and Internet teams is the go-to place for up-to-date information on Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and all the other Republican presidential hopefuls. Don't know where to start? Browse through "The Daily Flipper," a daily compilation of stories Republicans don't want you to read. Looking for something specific? Sort through the information by candidate or campaign issue. You'll be amazed at what you find: http://www.democrats.org/republicans
Which Rudy Giuliani will show up to the debate tonight? Just what is John McCain willing to say to win? Will Mitt Romney put his foot in his mouth again? We're kicking off the site with a live-blog of the debate as it happens. Head to the new site tonight around 8pm ET for rapid response from the rest of our team back at headquarters, and be sure to check back each day for the latest on the 2008 Republicans. Sincerely, Mike Gehrke | ||||
