Jumpstart is thrilled to announce Walmart as the Official Retail Partner of Jumpstart's Read for the Record campaign! Walmart stores nationwide are now offering the official limited edition copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in support of Jumpstart's Read for the Record. All net proceeds from the book sales will go to Jumpstart.*

Together, Jumpstart and Walmart bring the message of Jumpstart to communities across the nation and the spotlight on Jumpstart's year-round work with children in low-income communities has never shone brighter.

As a corporation, Walmart believes it can make the greatest impact on the communities it serves globally by supporting causes that are important to its customers - right in their own neighborhoods.

"Ensuring that the next generation has access to quality literature and early education is all of our responsibility, and Walmart is committed to doing its part," said Walmart Foundation President, Margaret McKenna. "From our associates who are reading in Walmart stores on October 8 to customers who support Jumpstart by buying The Very Hungry Caterpillar at Walmart, we're helping to instill a love for reading into children and planting seeds for their success in life."

"With Walmart's generous support of Jumpstart's Read for the Record, I am convinced that this year's campaign is going to not only break a record to raise awareness about the importance of early education, but also directly help us donate more than 250,000 official campaign books to children in need," said Jumpstart President, James Cleveland. "Jumpstart is proud to have Walmart as such a dedicated partner and integral part of the 2009 Read for the Record campaign."
