Mayor Fenty will release his proposed 2010 budget tomorrow, Friday March 20th. During March and April, the DC Council will review and amend the budget before passing a final 2010 budget bill on May 12, 2009.
We don't yet know the Mayor's budget proposal for the ODR. However, the District has a projected citywide budget shortfall of nearly $800 million for 2010. Such a huge budget gap will lead to cuts in nearly all DC government agencies. It's critically important that residents with disabilities and their allies work with the DC Council to review the Mayor's proposal for the ODR and make sure the 2010 budget does not hurt ODR's ability to make the District a more open, accessible place for people with disabilities.
