About this Workshop:
This interactive workshop will focus on the process involved in pre-identifying locations to be used as special needs shelters. It will involve compiling data on identified facilities and the equipment needed to support special needs shelters. The workshop will focus on the approach of how to leverage existing capabilities and resources in advance to be ready to care for a medically-fragile population. The workshop will also assist you and your organization in developing a planning process to account for the deployment of special needs teams, following medical care guidelines and prepare you identifying infrastructure, facilities, personnel, equipment and supplies required for a special needs shelter.

About Your Speaker:
Lisa Danner is a principal consultant with Beck Disaster Recovery (BDR). Mrs. Danner has extensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations regarding emergency management and the National Response Plan (NRP). She possesses over 21 years of emergency management experience and has a thorough understanding of emergency operations; continuity of operation (COOP) plans, special needs planning, and hazard mitigation planning. Ms. Danner has conducted both state and local exercises for special needs populations. Ms. Danner was a national certified Emergency Medical Technician at the Basic Level and was a North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services Level I Instructor for 6 years. Ms. Danner was a NC Level IV Emergency Management Coordinator and is a certified Emergency Management Accreditation program (EMAP) assessor.
