Dear Phillip,
Today, we've got one last chance to make sure Congress passes the boldest economic plan possible.
Just a few hours ago, the U.S. Senate voted 61-37 to pass their version of the economic recovery plan.
We need a plan to fix our economy - now - and the Senate vote is an important step forward. Unfortunately, the Senate bill is a mixed bag. It cuts funding from state education and health care programs, and would create or save approximately 500,000 fewer jobs than the House bill.1
A timid plan is not what we need - the latest news is that we lost nearly 600,000 jobs last month, the worst month in 35 years. What we need is the boldest action possible to create the most jobs and get Americans back to work right now.
We have one last chance to make it happen. Starting today, leaders from the House and Senate are meeting to merge their two bills and create a final version.
Will you contact your representatives and urge them to support a bold economic recovery plan that creates the most jobs possible?
Last week, we heard from the Hill that phone calls and emails - including yours - helped stave off even bigger cuts to the jobs bill. You made a big difference - and now we have one last chance to make sure Congress hears from us.
Contact your representatives today. We hear they plan to be done negotiating by the end of the day Thursday, so don't wait - contact them now.
Thanks for your action on this.
