Barack Obama may still be a week away from becoming the 44th president of the United States, but Congress is already back in session working on a desperately needed economic recovery plan. As you know, any plan to fix the economy that does not address the rising cost of health care will leave millions of American families behind. That's why Congress is considering important changes to the health care system that would give doctors better information on treatment options and shrink the bloated bureaucracy and paperwork -- saving lives and taxpayer dollars. Tell Congress why modernizing health care is crucial to repairing the economy. Welcome back your members of Congress and ask them to set a tone of common-sense bipartisanship by moving health care into the 21st century. The simplest way to start fixing health care is to get the system to start making sense. There's no reason that our health care system should still be pushing paper when everything from holiday shopping to personal banking is done online. Legislation that will streamline our medical records is exactly the right type of common-sense change that people voted for across the country. And did you know that, according to some estimates, less than half of all medical care is based on adequate evidence about its effectiveness? This isn't just inefficient, it's dangerous. The plan before Congress would include funding for research into effective health care treatments and allow consumers and doctors to make better decisions about the most appropriate health care options. If both parties can work together on this type of simple, common-sense legislation, it'll set a tone that can help us fix our health care once and for all. Click here and ask your member of Congress to take the first steps in fixing our health care system. Please forward this on to friends and family and help us get our message through to the new Congress. Sincerely, The Divided We Fail Team
