It's full steam ahead as we are just one week away from Christmas. Online marketers are in high gear as evidenced by numbers coming out of a couple of the big networks. Earlier this week, Commission Junction reported its same store retail sales growth for Black Friday and Cyber Monday was significant in a year-to-year comparison for 2007 to 2008. The figures topped those recently released by market researcher comScore. comScore recently put out numbers that there was a 1 percent increase in 2008 for retailers on Black Friday and a 15 percent increase on Cyber Monday compared to 2007. However, Commission Junction saw increases of 73 percent and 39 percent, respectively, for both of those big shopping dates. And, as mentioned in last week's newsletter, LinkShare released figures showing that its merchants experienced 17 percent growth over 2007 on Black Friday and a 21 percent increase in same store sales on Cyber Monday. I haven't seen too many returns or reports about online sales over the last week, but I'm hopeful that the news will be upbeat. That would be the best gift of all. We will not have a newsletter next week. So, I wanted to wish you and yours a very happy, healthy, safe and profitable holiday season. Merry, Merry?. Lisa Picarille Editor-in-Chief |
