The Nader/Gonzalez Web Team has been hard at work lately. We've been getting the website ready for the final Get-Out-the-Vote effort leading up to Election Day. And we've created a Voter Resource Center with links to information to help you get out and vote when the big day comes (or before). You'll find the Voter Resource Center link in the drop-down menu for the "Action" tab, or by clicking here. You have questions. We have web links. Before we lead you through our voter guide, watch this afternoon's video message from Ralph. Now: - Are you sure that you're registered to vote? Find out by checking one of the web-based voter registration tools you can access through our site. And find out what to take to the polls in case you're asked for proof.
- Is it too late for you to register? In some states it is still possible to register and vote on the spot -- even at this late date. Go to the Voter Resource Guide to find out if your state is one of them.
- Do you need to vote before Election Day? Some states are still open for early or absentee voting -- we can lead you to the answer.
- Have you moved, or simply forgotten where you need to go to cast your ballot? Click here and try out a Google Gadget that may be able to map your polling place, or use the link to get contact information for your local election authority.
- Are you curious about what sort of ballot you'll be faced with at the polls? We have downloadable sample ballots for representative counties in most of the states (which will show your choices for the presidential election) and a terrific link to information about types of voting equipment used in jurisdictions all across the country.
- Are you wondering what ballot initiatives, referenda or proposed constitutional amendments you'll be asked to weigh in on? We are linked to ballotpedia in the Voter Resource Center.
Finally, we have information on how to contact the Nader/Gonzalez Headquarters in Washington, DC if you should experience any attempts to obstruct your right to vote or witness fraud at the polls. We've all heard the news reports and read the histories of elections in 21st-century America. We can only hope that this election proves to be truly free and fair. The members of the Web Team hope that you find the Voter Resource Center a useful tool. And that you'll consider a contribution to help us get it done -- in cyberspace -- over these last crucial days. Onward to Tuesday! The Web Team PS: The fundraising folks asked us to remind you that if you donate $100 or more, we will ship to you the hard cover 40th Anniversary edition of Unsafe at Any Speed -- Ralph's historic expose of the American automobile industry -- autographed by the man himself. It was the book that launched the American consumer movement and saved hundreds of thousands of lives. This autographed edition is bound to become a rare collector's item after the election. So, get it now. Only a limited number left. (This book offer ends November 4, 2008 at 11:59 p.m.)
