Now, Chicagoland Speedway can't wait to play host to all of the non-stop action and excitement of the NASCAR Truck Series. Read More | | More News | Buy Tickets | | |  | | Another Close IndyCar Series Finish | | Ask The Track President | | Helio Castroneves made a exciting dash to the front of the pack - going from worst to first in 77 laps - but Scott Dixon did what was necessary to wrap up his second IndyCar Series championship at Chicagoland Speedway on September 7, 2008. Dixon, who needed an eighth place in the PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 at the 1.5-mile tri-oval to clinch, finished second in the 200-lap race -- by 0.0033 of a second to Castroneves in the second-closest finish in IndyCar Series history. The closest finish was 0.0024 of a second, which also took place at Chicagoland Speedway in 2002. The track is also home to the closest 1-2-3 finish in IndyCar Series history (0.0100 on September 7, ,2003), as well as the closest Firestone Indy Lights finish that has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the closest margin of victory in a car race. The 67-lap, 100-mile race, which took place on September 9, 2007, was decided by 0.0005 of a second.
