Who cares about Wisconsin?

Progressive Majority

Dear Friend,

With all eyes on the presidential election this fall, why should anyone outside Wisconsin care about what happens in Wisconsin this November?

At Progressive Majority, we know one big reason why Wisconsin matters to the rest of the country: swing states such as Wisconsin decide national races. Local politicians help drive voters to the polls and can deliver their state to either progressive or conservative hands.

That's why, since 2004, we've been successfully working to take over the Wisconsin Legislature.

In 2006, Progressive Majority made history when we helped restore a Democratic majority to the Wisconsin Senate.

Now, in 2008, we need your support to elect a Democratic majority to the state Assembly and complete our groundbreaking takeover of the Legislature.

We're only three seats away from reaching that majority in the Wisconsin Assembly, and here are four of the candidates who are going to help us get there:

Fred ClarkFred Clark is a lifelong conservationist and forester, and he's been a leader in statewide conservation efforts. He understands that environmental stewardship can and should walk hand-in-hand with resource management and job growth.

Kristen DexterKristen Dexter grew up working on her family's farm and is in touch with the struggles of Wisconsin families. She's campaigning on the core progressive values of health care reform, economic opportunity for all, and strong, equitable public education for our children.

Penny Bernard SchaberPenny Bernard Schaber, a union member and environmental advocate, has garnered several impressive endorsements, including from her local firefighters' union, United Steelworkers, the Sierra Club and progressive U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold.

LouAnnWeixLou Ann Weix, a nurse for more than 30 years, has witnessed the health insurance crisis firsthand and wants to deliver to the people of Wisconsin the same kind of high-quality health care that state legislators have had for years.

Victories for Fred, Kristen, Penny and Lou Ann mean victory for the people of Wisconsin, who will reap the benefits of progressive leadership in the Statehouse. But, their progressive influence extends well beyond state borders. A Democratically-controlled legislature in Wisconsin puts a stop to gerrymandering of national legislative districts and it helps deliver Wisconsin to Democrats at the national level.

We're counting on your support to keep Wisconsin "in the blue" for 2008 and for the years ahead. Please click here to make a secure donation to help Fred, Kristen, Penny, Lou Ann and all our progressive candidates in Wisconsin lead their state and our nation to a new era of forward-thinking progressive governance.

2008 is the year we take back Wisconsin, and take back our country!

Sincerely,

Gloria A. Totten
