John has made headlines around the nation for standing up to one of the most powerful men in US politics - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. John has refused to follow the Governor's orders to slash California state workers' salaries to the federal minimum wage of just $6.55 per hour - a rate even lower than California's own minimum wage. John has challenged the legality of the order, the necessity of the draconian cuts, and the feasibility of making immediate, radical changes to the state's outdated payroll system.
John's exceptional courage in standing up to Gov. Schwarzenegger has captured the attention of the national Democratic Party - just as he is sure to capture the attention of the nation tonight.
