No Democracy for DC Soldiers - You Can Help

Since World War I, nearly 200,000 brave men and women from DC have served in the military to defend our country. Of that number, 1,686 DC soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America. All fought to defend our country, and many are still fighting today to bring democracy to the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet, all are denied democracy at home.

I am writing today to urge you to write a letter to your local newspapers or post to your favorite blog and shine some much-needed attention on this critical issue.

We are launching an advertisement this week in both local and national publications. It is a stark image and a harrowing message. We hope that it will touch people in a way that makes them think twice about the men and women of the District who fight so bravely - all while being denied equal representation at home.

I think we owe it to DC's soldiers and veterans to keep the fight for DC voting rights alive. Please let your voice be heard - write a letter-to-the-editor, post a comment on your favorite blog and tell your fellow Americans that you demand the vote for DC's veterans and fallen soldiers.

DC's soldiers make sacrifices for their country each and every day - a right to representation in Congress shouldn't be one of them.

Sincerely,

Ilir Zherka
Executive Director
