Happy Fourth of July from the Divided We Fail Team!
Independence Day is one of our favorite holidays here at Divided We Fail. After all, we're fighting for independence from partisan gridlock each and every day.
(We're also fans of the barbeques with friends and family. And Champ loves fireworks).
This year, we are reflecting on the way elections have come to resemble fireworks shows. They are flashy, exciting, and fun -- and all about making the biggest bang. But the substance has been sorely lacking.
In 2008, we're fighting to make sure that the election isn't all show.
We're rallying Americans to demand specifics from candidates across the country. We want to know how our leaders plan to make sure that every American has access to quality affordable health care, and won't have to worry about their long-term financial security. Will you take action with us by signing the Divided We Fail pledge in honor of Independence Day?
Judging from the tremendous support from people like you, we have something to celebrate this Fourth of July. Hundreds of years later, Americans are still able to come together and demand something better from their leaders.
