Dear Friends:

Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) was the lone Democrat who voted against the DC Voting Rights Act. Baucus is filibustering the bill, which would provide the District with one voting member in Congress, because he believes it would diminish Montana's own influence in Congress.

DC Vote's strategy is to organize a large number of Montana voters, representing a diversity of backgrounds, in support of DC voting rights. Baucus' constituents will write letters and request meetings with Senator Baucus and his local staff to urge him to stop his filibuster of the DC Voting Rights Act. He may find it easy to ignore DC residents, but he will find it much harder to ignore the voices of Montana voters.

Our goal is ambitious and time-sensitive. We want to roll out our Baucus strategy within the next couple of weeks, with real results, and we need your help to do it. There are two key action items where we could use your assistance and input:

If you can help us reach out to constituents in Montana, please let us know by contacting Jaline Quinto at jquinto@dcvote.org or by phone at 202.462.6000 x19.

We can end Baucus' filibuster with your help,

Ilir Zherka,
Executive Director
