Daily Herald - Daily Digest 12/3: "Monday, December 03, 2007 Daily Digest 12/3 " Daily Herald AMERICAN FORK • American Fork resident Marc Ellison has been nominated for the Above & Beyond Citizen Honors, a new initiative to honor those ordinary Americans who become extraordinary through acts of selflessness. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, comprised of the living Medal of Honor recipients, along with honorary co-chairs Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush, and General Colin L. Powell, ret., have put out a call to Americans to nominate their fellow citizens for Above & Beyond Citizen Honors now through Dec. 16 at www.aboveandbeyond365.com. In January, after all of the nominations have been received, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society will select 50 finalists. From those, the society will announce three Above & Beyond Citizen Honors recipients at the National Medal of Honor Day ceremony in March. Ellison risked his own life to save a 3-year-old girl who had fallen off a cliff at the Timpanogos National Monument in American Fork Canyon. Marc risked his life scaling down the cliff to reach the little girl, and stayed with her on the ledge for 90 minutes until rescue workers were able to repel down and pull them both to safety. • The Disability Law Center will host a public hearing from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Utah County Office, 548 E. 300 South, Suite 106, for those who wish to comment on the center's services and issues impacting the disability community. Comments will be given to the staff of the center and the board of trustees, and speakers will each have five minutes to provide comments.
