Unbelievable -- the President is yet again threatening to veto the plan for Iraq that Democrats passed today, proving he will veto any plan that doesn't include a blank check for his endless war. With his latest veto threat, the President has already chosen confrontation over cooperation. All of this coming on the heels of Tuesday's announcement from the Pentagon that 35,000 American troops will be sent to Iraq and can expect to remain there at least through the spring of 2008 -- a full year from now.
Every day we see the tragic consequences of the President's failed policy in Iraq. Democrats are demanding a New Direction. That's why I'm asking you to stand with us today. I'm hoping to deliver to the President 50,000 signatures by May 17th to demonstrate the will of the American people. Will you join us?
Tell President Bush not to veto another plan to fully fund our troops, honor our commitment to our veterans, and end the war in Iraq.Our plan gives our troops all of the resources they need to safely carry out their mission, honors our commitment to our veterans, holds the Iraqi government accountable and ends this war. An overwhelming majority of the country, Congressional Democrats and now even some Congressional Republicans agree that the President's plan isn't working. It's long past time to change direction and insist that the Iraqi people take responsibility for their own nation. We need your help today.
