When Hillary Clinton announced that she was running for President she said, " I am in and I am in to win." Now, America's Indian community is rallying around to ensure that she does. "This is a chance for Indian-Americans to bring their own friend into the White House. We plan to raise $5 million and help Hillary and Bill Clinton all the way. They have helped Indians and India and this is a time to pay them back," said Sant Chatwal, Indian Americans for Hillary 2008. Meanwhile, in another part of Manhattan "South Asians for Obama" gathered to raise money for the other fast-rising phenomenon of the Democratic Party -Senator Barack Obama. Their campaign is called "One lakh for Barack." "One Lakh for Barack. We are trying to get a 100,000 South Asians to be involved in the campaign. We ask that you ask 20 friends to give $20." "Twenty for 20 to get 100, 000 South Asians to contribute to the campaign," said Udai Tambar, Founder, South Asians for Obama. Most affluent Indian-Americans are the fastest-growing and most affluent ethnic group in the United States.
