Hillary hits N.H. - with powerful PAC money in tow - Local Politics - BostonHerald.com: "By Emma Ratliff Boston Herald City Editor Saturday, February 10, 2007 Hillary Clinton comes to New Hampshire this weekend with something in her backpack that her chief Democratic presidential rival is missing: the checkbook of the country’s biggest political action committee. Clinton makes her first swing through the first-in-the-nation primary state today and tomorrow as the other candidate whose star power is through the roof - Sen. Barack Obama - makes his White House bid official. But boosting Clinton, the former first lady and current New York senator, is EMILY’s List. The PAC announced it would endorse Clinton, the sole woman running for the Democratic presidential nomination. “We are a big powerhouse now,” said EMILY’s List president Ellen Malcolm. “In 1988, there were only 12 Democratic women in the House, currently there are 50. We have elected eight women governors.” The 100,000-member organization is a grassroots political army and is the dominant financial provider to female Democratic candidates running in local, state and federal offices. “I can’t find any other organization that has that kind of money during the primary,” said Morgan Felchner, editor of Campaigns and Elections Magazine.
