HOYER February is Black History Month, and a time that is designated to recognize the numerous contributions that African Americans have had in shaping our great nation and advancing equality and justice for all Americans.  Clearly, this goal of equality and justice is something we should continue to strive for and work towards every day, all year round – a point that was made at an annual Black History Breakfast I attended recently with special guest speaker Tavis Smiley, Tavis Smiley, Host of Tavis Smiley on PBS and The Tavis Smiley Show from PRI. See below for more on the breakfast. A few weeks ago, I sent a message about an economic stimulus plan to jumpstart the slowing economy. I am pleased to report that this week the President signed that legislation. Individual tax rebate checks could be in the mail as early as mid-May.
